I recently consolidated a list of restaurants that I want to visit in the near future with other foodies, and Sweetery Cafe + Desserts is one of them. Last Saturday, Jan and I decided to go to this hidden gem for a brunch date. The cafe was spacious and cozy, decorated with wooden furnitures. The brunch menu is served on weekends from 8am to 2:30pm. We chose two dishes to share – Chicken & Waffles and Cajun Crabcake Benny.
Regarded as the Starbucks of Japan, Nana’s Green Tea recently opened its first North American store in Kerrisdale, Vancouver. Prior to its grand opening, I was lucky to tag along with Jason to its media event. Its minimalist and elegant interior design is paired with wooden chairs and tables. Though there is limited seating, it is not too packed. After the media tasting, I went back again on a weekend afternoon, and the line wasn’t too bad, as I only waited for 15 minutes.
We tried some signature desserts, drinks, and savory dish in the media event. Continue reading “Nana’s Green Tea”
Consolidating the second half of the list of must try food spots was difficult, as I was debating which restaurant to include. Yet as a professional foodie, I have made up my mind. This time, I included some memorable places that I have been in my past visits to Hong Kong. The list also contains foods from my childhood.
Yes I just returned from my month long vacation in Hong Kong, Korea, and Taiwan, so I finally have time to sit down and consolidate a list of must try food spots for you all. Hong Kong is known as a food paradise, yet as a local, I’ve found food in Hong Kong to be pretty mediocre. It can get quite expensive compared to other cities, including Vancouver! So on this trip, I spent more time digging through hidden gems to share with you all.
Every year, I would choose a different place to order a cake for my mom’s birthday, and this year, I chose 812 Cake & Dessert. I came here with my friends before, when they first opened. We ordered most of the flavors in the shelf, so I thought my mom would love this place as well. 812 Cake & Dessert is a Korean-owned cake shop near Gilmore. Their cakes overall are on a lighter side, and they have a large variety of beverage selections.
During my first visit, we ordered Tiramisu, Blueberry Cheese, Sweet Potato, and Salted Caramel. Flavors come in a rotational basis, so I am sure you will never get bored of the cakes here. As for the second visit, I ordered Strawberry for my mom’s birthday cake.
