We are always on an adventure to find delicious xiao long baos. And recently, my friend told us about this Shanghainese restaurant on Kingsway, across Superstore in Metrotown. The restaurant has a funny name, Colour See See. We always pass by this place, but we never tried it. Unlike other restaurants, they only serve buns and dumplings. It is fairly spacious, with an open-kitchen concept. You can watch them making the dumplings fresh from outside. But I have to warn you all that I highly DO NOT recommend to visit during busy hours.(more…)
Have you ever been to the Crystal Mall food court? It is similar to the ones in Aberdeen Centre or Parker Place, except it is in Burnaby, near Metrotown. If not, there is now a reason for you to pay a visit. J & G Fried Chicken originated from Taiwan, opened its first ever location of North American in Vancouver in December 2018. The shop features using fresh and high-quality chicken for all its menu items. A few weeks ago, I was invited to a media event to try their food item, and it then becomes one of my favourite stalls in the food court. Though I found some items are on a saltier side, others are delicious!(more…)
What would you do when you only have a bowl of rice, an egg, and some meat in your fridge? A rice bowl with a sunny-side up egg? Sometimes, adding creativity to some simple ingredients like these can create the most delicious comfort food. Michi Craft Kitchen, a newly opened restaurant on Kingsway, features a simple menu with delectable options, such as squid ink spaghetti and omelette rice.(more…)
Recently, there are a lot of new cafes and dessert places opened in Burnaby, and one of my favorite would be Mon Paris Patisserie. It has a very classy and simple interior design. As soon as you step in the store, you can smell the aroma of chocolate. The pastries and sweets are displayed beautifully, and what always caught my attention are the bonbons!
After the last crêpe cakes hunt with L’OTUS Cake Boutique, I am very looking forward to Sugar Lab, a dessert place on Grimmer St in Burnaby. I did some research before I went, and I heard their cakes usually out around 8 pm. So we decided to call and reserve four slices before they were sold out, just like what we did in L’OTUS.
