Magkasama 2020: a Modern Filipino Virtual Market

Last year, Vancouver had its first ever Filipino market, Magkasama. Magkasama means ‘together’ in Tagalog, and it is a free festival that spotlights Filipino culture, including food, handcrafted goods, and music. And it was one of the best markets I’ve attended. Though COVID-19 happened, nothing can stop them from hosting this year’s Magkasama. Instead, it becomes a virtual Filipino market, which you can purchase your favourite products and discover new ones online.

Magkasama: Vancouver’s First Modern Filipino Market

Yesterday, Vancouver had its first ever Filipino Market, Magkasama, at the Pace. Magkasama means ‘together’ in Tagalog, and it is a free festival that spotlights Filipino culture, including food, handcrafted goods, and music. The event is organized by a Filipino food truck, Shameless Buns and a Filipino pop-up restaurant, Layunin. Though yesterday was raining throughout the day, that didn’t stop people from going. Instead it was a successful event, and I got to explore more than 25 vendors in the market.

Feast x Subaru: A Satisfied Chinese Dinner at Continental Seafood Restaurant

Feast x Subaru: First Time Visiting Hotpot Palace

This is the second year of Feast: Asian Dining Festival, which you can dine in 34 participating restaurants in Richmond with a discounted price or special set menus featuring their signature dishes. This festival features a variety of cuisines, including Chinese, Indian, Korean, Persian, and Japanese, so there must be a suitable restaurant for everyone. The festival is happening from now until November 18, 2019. I collaborated with Feast and Subaru to drive around Richmond and visit some participating restaurants. My first stop is Hotpot Palace, a high-end hotpot restaurant offering a $38 set menu during the Feast Festival.
