Last night, I went on a mini food crawl with Eva and Jason at the Tasting Plates event around the Mount Pleasant neighborhood. There are four participating restaurants, including PappaRoti, Uma Sushi, Maizal, and Westcoast Poke. We get to experience and enjoy some of the signature food items from different restaurant.

Ramen is the perfect comfort food during a rainy day, and I was invited to try the newest creation at Marutama Gaiden, a spin-off ramen joint of Marutama Ramen located on Main Street. Here, you can experience some unique menu items that are not served in other locations. You also have the opportunity to try the thick noodles and various soup base, instead of the chicken creamy broth solely. The feature item on the menu is spicy ramen with a twist using Sichuan hot chili peppers.

Do you remember when was your last time eating at Hon’s Wonton House? My last dining experience with them was when I first came to Vancouver 10 years ago. I still remembered they used to have a huge menu, with almost everything you can possibly name. Recently, I had a chance to revisit Hon’s Wonton House after 10 years, but everything has now changed. The new restaurant, located in Olympic Village, became more modern, with a simpler menu. But one thing remains – handmade wontons.
I believe this is my first time to revisit my blog post and change my comments on the food quality and restaurant. I revisited the restaurant last night, and I ordered Popstickers and Beef Brisket & Wonton Noodle Soup. Unfortunately, I was disappointed on the food quality this time!

Charisma Cafe & Dessert House is a spacious cafe located outside the Stadium-Chinatown Skytrain station. It specializes in homemade cheesecakes and beverages, such as bubble tea and coffee. I recently consolidated a list of restaurants that I want to visit in the near future with other foodies, and Sweetery Cafe + Desserts is one of them. Last Saturday, Jan and I decided to go to this hidden gem for a brunch date. The cafe was spacious and cozy, decorated with wooden furniture. The brunch menu is served on weekends from 8am to 2:30pm. We chose two dishes to share – Chicken & Waffles and Cajun Crabcake Benny.
